What are the jewellery trends for the upcoming season?
Minimal sculptural pieces are definitely having a moment in fashion jewellery. Beautiful sculptural shapes worn as a statement piece are a great way to freshen up your look and give it a modern edge.
Alexis Bittar is always at the forefront of trends and has the most interesting shapes and statement pieces for Spring.
Fine Jewellery that’s not trend driven but has modern touches or designs is still a focus for 2025.
How do you select the designers and pieces featured in your store?
We put so much time into selecting designers and the individual pieces of jewellery. It can take months or a year researching or deciding on a brand as it’s all about building relationships and who we choose to work with is very important to us. We always look for brands or designers with longevity we want to tell the story over a few years. We are looking for designs that literally stop us in our tracks, something unique that’s interesting and not something we have seen before. Curation is the key to what we do offering only the absolute best designers and selected styles from around the world from our years of experience viewing collections.
What’s your top tip for keeping jewellery looking its best over time?
For any fashion jewellery which is plated, as in not solid gold, you must take care of the jewellery well and not get products or perfumes on the jewellery, the better you look after the jewellery the longer it will last.
Fine and delicate jewellery also must be taken care of, simple things like hanging up chains to stop tangling, storing earrings on their own so they don’t get tangled with other pieces helps keep things in their original shapes.
We always recommend cleaning your diamond jewellery with a professional jeweller to keep the diamonds sparkly especially after a holiday or summers where products can get trapped in setting and make the stones dull.
Do you have a personal favourite piece in the store right now? What makes it special?
Our Wave collection from my Loulerie fine jewellery collection holds a very special place for me as it’s inspired by the sea which has always been my constant source of inspiration. I have been wearing the wave hoops for over 10 years they are now a beloved classic in our collection.
If someone is looking for a timeless piece to invest in, what would you recommend?
I think jewellery is so personal and deserves a very personal approach it’s not at all a one size fits all. It’s all about your own individual style and lifestyle so the jewellery has to be something they easily can be worn day to day whatever your lifestyle. Also I find people are often more drawn to one thing, I always wear earrings and a necklace I feel very bare without a necklace, bracelets I don’t tend to wear so much. So if investing think about the piece you always feel lost without and invest in that one pair of solid gold earrings, a necklace whatever it is and a timeless design that isn’t trend driven so you will love it forever and pass it down to the next generation, jewellery is so much more then just a physical thing it’s all about meaning and memories.
What sets Loulerie apart from other jewellery boutiques?
My passion is unwavering. I still get so excited when a new design arrives in and I get to see the finished piece, seeing the evolution of a piece of jewellery from idea, to inspiration, sketch to sample and a finished piece is still a magical process. It’s not a perfect process, mistakes are part of the learning you have to have an open mind and most of all a curious mind to always be looking to add your own perspective it’s a constantly evolving work in progress.
